The mountains and deserts of Utah, but I’ll go anywhere!
What is it that you like the most about guiding hiking trips?
The simplicity of throwing a backpack on and walking through some amazing landscapes.
How long have you been guiding trips in your area?
14 years
Tell us something about yourself, people may not know?
I’m a triplet and one of three boys. Although I have two kids of my own, I wouldn’t wish triplet boys on anyone…just kidding, mom!
What is your biggest achievement to date?
Raising the above mentioned children. Also, working my whole life to be a world-wide, outdoor adventure Jack-of-all-trades!
What do you love to do when you are not guiding trips?
Pretty much the same activities as when I’m guiding: climb, travel the backcountry, ski, chase children, homestead at our desert cabin, bow hunt, sail, fish…being outside in the elements never gets old!
Favourite Artist, Band or do you like music?
George Nakashima. He was a woodworker but an amazing artist too. I love too many musical artists to name, anything from jazz to reggae to punk rock.
What is your favorite food?
I could do with Japanese cuisine of all varieties for the rest of my life, however I’d have to move back to the coast.
If you could go anywhere in the world, what would be your first choice?
Back to the places I grew up and/or the ones that shaped me to share with my offspring: South Africa and Namibia. Southern India, Nepal, Kenya, Southern Argentina are all close seconds.
